jewells..

Super fun weekend catching up with Jules on a flying visit from The North Face, spreading the SeaPea love, careering around lanes on indecisive surf checks and dodging the downpours. Some fun waves despite the wind. Jules take on the mini - simmons experience? "Looks like a comedy board but boy is it fast!"

Out on the bike too, our dry trails are well and truly gone now but getting both wheels sliding at the same time downhill through trees sure gets the pulse racing.

Both on land and at sea, a little but of exploring can pay dividends!

long way home

So this is one of those photos i'm secretly pretty pleased with. Working with such low budget cameras you are never entirely sure what you are gong to get back when you open the film envelope and sometimes pictures that you think will be great are disappointing and others you almost forgot you'd taken and just shot from the hip as it were sometimes turn out fantastic. This is one that came out exactly as my eye imagined it and i think it's not bad.

Looking at it, it's the view from the coast path behind middle beach woolacombe, it makes you realise how fantastic an area this is to live. I shot it on my way past on one of my regular mtb loops, a kind of eco friendly way to check the surf before heading back, showering the mud off and meeting the rising swell on the rising tide.

We are nlessed with beautiful beaches and waves to explore, amazing moorland riding almost on the doorstep, quiet country lanes and friendly relaxed people. Once the hook is set, i dont think you could ever leave...

rolling in SB

Beach cruisers on the boardwalk are a classic californian stereotype in the world at large but the reality is that they are ridden by huge numbers of locals completely without irony. As i've blogged before, cruisers are fun to ride (on the flat) and a sunny beach side path is just about the best place to ride one.

This is a schwinn that i rented in Santa Barbara, a company that have been making these bikes for a long time. Not quite as nice to ride as my electra but a couple of hours cruising the coast path  in SB on this one was one of my favourite parts of the trip.

cruising in devon lanes

Electra deluxe 3i, sunshine, devon lanes, a few curious sheep, what more could you need? The nice people at electra just featured one of my photos as their pic of the week on their blog. Very nice to be asked. See the post here.

If you're wondering, she did give the teddies back in the end!
